Thank you for taking the time to read Lucy's Story!
When Ryan and I found out we were pregnant we were overjoyed! We couldn't wait to be parents!
I had a perfect pregnancy and our little nugget was taking her time coming into the world (42 1/2 weeks to be exact).
On March 16, 2016 our Lucy Reese was born at 4:16pm!
The Doctors knew something was wrong almost immediately and thanks to their quick action and diagnosis of DTGA we decided to transport her to Children's of Alabama to care for her and fix her tiny heart.
Learning that our child has such a rare congenital heart defect was extremely scary, Lucy has DTGA (dextro-Transposition of the great arteries) and required open heart surgery at 6 days old. Throughout the entire process we recieved an overwhelming amount of support and information that helped us to know we were doing the right thing for our Lucy.
To say that she was loved and cared for at Children's is an understatement, the entire staff from her case worker, to the incredibly skilled Nurses, Specialist, and Surgeon Dr Cleveland were absolutely amazing!
Thanks to Children's Lucy will live a long, happy life with little to no limitations! She is now 11 months old and thriving! We are so blessed to have such an amazing hospital in Alabama for Lucy and all the children they help every day.
IF YOU FEEL INCLINED TO GIVE TO THIS AMAZING HOSPITAL PLEASE HELP LUCY MEET HER GOAL!!
